Considerable advances have been made in understanding Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Are you aware that research has shown that parole and probation staff are at the same or higher risk of PTSD and “moral Injury” as combat veterans? This workshop will give you greater understanding of the nature of PTSD and moral injury, various risk factors and causes, and how to recognize signs of PTSD in yourself, co-workers, and clients. Attendees will benefit from an interesting presentation that includes useful suggestions on how to deal with these issues and successfully recover.

Erin McGann
Justice Involved Veterans Coordinator, TX Veterans Commission


Erin McGann is the Justice involved Veterans Coordinator at the Veteran Mental Health Department, Texas Veterans Commission. She worked for eight years at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a Parole Officer, Life Skills teacher, HIV Coordinator, in the Texas Correctional Office on Offenders with Medical or Mental Impairments and in the Reentry Department as a supervisor in the Community Reentry program. Erin was awarded the TVC Excellence Award in 2016. She is on the Board of Directors of the American Parole and Probation Association and the Texas Reentry Advisory Council She holds an undergraduate degree in Justice and Policy Studies from Guilford College in Greensboro, NC and a master’s in criminal justice from Texas State in San Marcos, TX. She is the daughter of a Marine.
