SESSION INFO

Tuesday, August 20, 2019
8:30 AM - 10:00 AM
Session Type: Workshop

Although prevalence estimates vary, there is a consensus that high percentages of justice-involved women and men have experienced serious trauma at some point or throughout their lifetime. The reverberating effects of traumatic experiences can challenge a person’s capacity for recovery and pose significant barriers to accessing services, often resulting in an increased risk of encountering the criminal justice system. This useful workshop focuses on trauma awareness, on what is known about this dynamic, and on what is known about how to improve criminal justice outcomes for individuals with such histories.
