Developing a made-from-scratch mentoring program for your community, to improve the lives of people who have been involved with or affected by the criminal justice system is easier than you might think! This workshop will describe how the idea for the Kodiak Area Mentor Program (KAMP) originated, how the program was developed, and the vital role the State of Alaska Department of Corrections played in its development. Any community of any size can benefit from building a program that integrates people who can benefit from one another’s lived experiences and faith.

Shawn Olsen
President, Kodiak Area Mentor Program
Shawn Olsen: President of the Kodiak Area Mentor Program. Formerly incarcerated, formerly on the Kodiak Probation and Parole caseload. Alaska Native celebrating over 10 years of recovery and the 2019 statewide recipient of the Annual School of Addictions Changemaker Award.
Jami Wallace
Vice President, Kodiak Area Mentor Program
Jami Gibson Wallace: Vice President of the Kodiak Area Mentor Program. Formerly incarcerated, formerly on the Kodiak Probation and Parole caseload.
Jill Wallace
Adult Probation Officer II, AK Department of Corrections
Jill Wallace: Employed by the State of Alaska Dept. of Corrections for over 25 years and currently a student in my senior year at Liberty University studying Criminal Psychology. Former Probation and Parole Supervisor for the Kodiak District Office and currently working in the Presentence Investigation Unit. Co-founded the Kodiak Area Mentor Program in 2014, with the support and guidance of DOC.
