Leveraging technology is one way supervision agencies across the world can ensure fidelity to evidence-based practices while improving their reputation, service, officer safety and offender outcomes. This workshop will explore the technology-driven supervision model used by the Georgia Department of Community Supervision (DCS), including its supporting technological tools, the challenges faced during its build-up, and how DCS plans to use future technologies to support a more effective, streamlined judicial system in Georgia. Trends in key performance indicators identified by DCS will also be shared with the audience to show the impact adapting a technology-driven approach to community supervision can have on your operations.

SESSION PRESENTERS
Dr. Nicholas Powell
Director of Strategic Planning & Analysis, GA Department of Community Supervision
Dr. Nick Powell is the Director of Strategic Planning and Research for the Georgia Department of Community Supervision. In this role, Dr. Powell is responsible ensuring that operations are in-line with the latest in evidence-based practices. Prior to his current position, he served as a Data Analyst in the Office of Strategic Planning and Research, Media Relations Specialist in the Office of Public Affairs, and as an Assistant Chief in the Atlanta Judicial Circuit. Dr. Powell holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, a Master’s degree in Public Administration, and a Doctorate in Sociology with a research focus on probation and parole.
Phil Sellers
Chief Information Officer, GA Department of Community Supervision
Phil Sellers is the Chief Information Officer for the Georgia Department of Community Supervision. Over the course of his career, Phil has served as a: Probation Officer, Prison Counselor, Deputy Warden, Chief Technology Officer for the Georgia Department of Corrections and Chief Information Officer for the State Board of Pardons and Paroles. A native of south Louisiana, Phil graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He is also a graduate of the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College and holds a Master's degree in Public Administration from Columbus State University.
