1:30PM - 3:00PM
Session Type: Workshop

Oregon has traditionally had a reputation for innovation and forethought in its criminal justice policy and practice. In 2020 the voters of Oregon passed a constitutional amendment which effectively decriminalized the possession of “user” amounts of controlled substances. The criminal justice system in Oregon is now grappling with how to implement this ballot measure in a thoughtful and effective way. This workshop will explore the antecedents to this ballot measure, the current state of criminal justice agencies in working with substance abusing offenders, and the plans for the future.
