Presented by Hakan Klarin, Chief Information Officer Swedish Prison and Probation Service Co-leader of Council of Europe's three-year workgroup for Council of Penological Cooperation Source Material: Draft Recommendation on AI: Ethical and Organizational Aspects of the Use of Artificial Intelligence and Related Digital Technologies by Prison and Probation Services Hakan will share his own views on potential gains, challenges and potential risk mitigations with use of AI in the field of corrections and probation. He will summarize the three-year effort by the workgroup committee he co-led for the Council of Europe, including key basic principles he and his colleagues have defined as foundational to ethical and appropriate implementations of AI. Members of the APPA Technology Committee will outline some high-level next steps we intend to take in partnership with Hakan and his colleagues. All are invited to also come to the full APPA Technology Committee meeting at 2:15pm in 406 Klickitat, where we will continue the conversation.
