Navigating the transition from incarceration to reentry into society is a complex journey that requires comprehensive support and guidance. This workshop aims to teach attendees with practical strategies and insights to effectively assist individuals in this critical phase of their lives. From addressing the challenges of reintegration to fostering self-sufficiency and resilience, participants will explore evidence-based practices and innovative approaches to empower clients for successful reentry post-incarceration. The goal is to create a deeper understanding of the multifaceted nature of reentry to effectively support individuals, ultimately setting them up for long-term success and positive community engagement.

SESSION PRESENTERS

Dr. Bryanna Davis
Instructor, Kutztown University


Bryanna Davis has worked in the probation and parole field for the past 8 years and currently holds the position of Quality Assurance Supervisor for a County Adult Probation and Parole Department. Since earning her Doctorate in Criminal Justice from California University in 2021, Bryanna has served as an Instructor for Kutztown, Delaware Valley, and Midland Universities. Bryanna is a member of the CCAPPOAP EBP Training Workgroup, co-chair of the Data & QA Workgroup, holds certifications as a trainer in MI, ORAS, and WRNA and certified as an MI coder, EPICS Coach and in SPEP Level 1. Bryanna has a passion for analyzing and applying data to make the most appropriate evidence-based decisions for achieving long-term successful outcomes in offenders/delinquents as well as recidivism reductions.


Dr. Cassandra Leigh Torres
Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice, Midland University


Cassandra Torres received her MFS from Nebraska Wesleyan in 2012 and Doctor of Criminal Justice from California University of Pennsylvania in 2019. With over a decade of academic experience, her journey began as correctional staff before transitioning into academia. Cassandra began teaching at Midland University in 2021, and currently holds the position of Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice. Cassandra is passionate about fostering a new generation of criminal justice professionals, to which her real-world experience offers students a unique perspective on the intricacies of the criminal justice system.
