From the Inside Out – Reducing Recidivism by 25% Over the Next 10 Years

Arizona Department of Corrections Community Corrections Bureau would like to present an overview of Arizona's strides to improve recidivism reduction through Reentry Initiatives to include: ADCs Second Chance Statewide Adult Recidivism Reduction Grant, Second Chance Centers, Community Reentry Centers, State/Governor's supported initiatives- Housing, Employment and Integrated Care Initiatives. Our workshop will outline our State strategies/programs and how we are re-integrating high risk/high need populations back into communities and reducing recidivism through statewide multi agency/community collaborations. At the end of the workshop we would like the participants to be able to define sequential intercept map, how to cultivate necessary partnerships throughout justice system/community collaborations to improve recidivism reduction efforts.

SESSION PRESENTERS

Nicole Frigon
Community Corrections Manager-Projects & Programs, AZ Department of Corrections


Nicole Studer began her career with the Arizona Department of Corrections at the age of 19 as a Correctional Officer. Today she is a Community Corrections Manager specializing in Projects & Programs. Nicole serves as a member of the Governor’s Goal Council 4 Recidivism Reduction Committee, Arizona Recovery Housing Advisory Board, Criminal Justice Mental Health Coalition, Sequential Intercept Mapping Committee, Targeted Investment Justice Program and numerous other statewide community partnerships to enhance community safety and wellness.


Kathleen Reyes
Deputy Warden, AZ Department of Corrections


Kathleen Reyes began her career with the Arizona Department of Corrections in 1999 as a Correctional Officer. Today she is the Programs Manager for the Pima Reentry Center in Tucson, Arizona. She develops facility programs and facility’s residential programs. Kathleen networks with community stakeholders to build relationships and explore potential partnerships for the facility.


John Zimmerman
Program Manager, AZ Department of Corrections


John Zimmerman began his career with the Arizona Department of Corrections in 1987 as a Correctional Officer. Today he is the Programs Manager for the Maricopa Reentry Center in Phoenix, Arizona. He develops facility programs and facility’s residential programs. John networks with community stakeholders to build relationships and explore potential partnerships for the facility.
