SESSION INFO

Wednesday, August 25, 2021
9:30AM - 11:00AM
Session Type: Special Activity

For more than 25 years the Commonwealth’s network of Community Justice Support Centers (formerly known as community corrections centers) has sought safer and stronger communities by delivering alternatives to jail and prison that offer individually tailored treatment and accountability. Today, Support Centers are recognized as a place that coordinates evidence-based interventions like cognitive behavioral treatment, education, and career counseling, while brokering ancillary community-based supports at almost every intercept in the criminal justice process. Whether pretrial or re-entry, the centers can support clients so that they can live healthy, productive lives in the community where they belong. Explaining: 1. Why Support Centers are part of the MPS mission to protect community safety, 2. How Support Centers incorporate community justice and evidence-based practice, and 3. What Support Centers are doing to change lives and make communities safer and stronger. The program includes a short presentation and a live video tour of Support Centers in Barnstable, Framingham, Lowell, and Woburn.
