Session Type: Workshop
In 2020, the Nebraska Division of Parole Supervision (DPS) was awarded a grant in which they were able to implement a new program within to provide services to victims of crime engaged in the parole process. The DPS has worked with their grant partners as well as advocates across the nation to identify gaps in services and systemic responses, improve victim engagement in the parole process, and create guidelines for engagement between victims and field officers. DPS staff plan to continue national outreach efforts to determine best practices for implementation in Nebraska. The Nebraska Board of Parole (NBOP) and the DPS continue to work closely throughout this project with hope for Nebraska to be a model state for victim advocacy in community supervision.
