SESSION PRESENTERS
Dr. Lindsay Gietzen
Program Director and Professor, University of the Pacific
Dr. Lindsay Gietzen, a highly accomplished professional in emergency and trauma medicine, holds a Ph.D. in Educational Evaluation and Research from Wayne State University, as well as advanced degrees in Physician Assistant Studies and Sociology. Her career spans clinical practice and education, including roles in neurological surgery and emergency departments, where she developed expertise in managing complex medical emergencies. Dr. Gietzen has also played a pivotal role in developing training programs focused on emergency response, such as Active Violence Emergency Response Training (AVERT). She is currently the Program Director and Professor at the University of the Pacific, where she leads the development of healthcare programs aimed at preparing future professionals for emergency scenarios and leadership. She is also an Associate Director for the American Council on Education where she oversees the quality and articulation of military training programs on behalf of the Department of Defense.
Dr. Darcy Leutzinger
Assistant Professor, University of the Pacific
Dr. Darcy Leutzinger is a highly experienced professional with a strong background in emergency management, law enforcement, and education. He holds a Ph.D. in Emergency and Protective Services from Capitol Technology University, among other academic achievements. Over his 26-year career with the Warren Police Department, the third largest city in the State of Michigan, Darcy held multiple leadership roles, including Executive Lieutenant and Special Response Team Commander, where he managed high-stakes investigations and developed emergency response protocols. Transitioning to the private sector, he led security operations for Fortune 500 organizations. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor at the University of the Pacific, where he contributes to the development of an Emergency Management Master’s Program. His expertise is supported by a variety of certifications, including firearms and tactical instruction, SWAT supervision, and advanced paramedic training, making him a distinguished figure in both law enforcement and emergency preparedness.
