There are many Reentry Councils, Justice Reinvestment Act states, and others that bring community stakeholders together to address and improve local criminal justice policy. Some of these councils are more successful than others, and there is much to learn about what is working and what is not. During this special session, panelists will talk about what it takes for collaboration, more meaningful local criminal justice reform, and to get stakeholders out of their silos, working together. The moderated discussion will include representatives of the various stakeholder groups currently participating in local councils around the country including those from urban, rural, and suburban areas so they better represent APPA’s diverse audience.
