Kevin Hines is a storyteller. He is a best selling author, global public speaker, and award winning documentary filmmaker. In the Year 2000, Kevin attempted to take his life by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. Many factors contributed to his miraculous survival including a sea lion which kept him afloat until the Coast Guard arrived. Kevin now travels the world sharing his story of hope, healing, and recovery while teaching people of all ages the art of wellness & the ability to survive pain with true resilience.

Kevin’s will to live and stay mentally well has inspired people worldwide. His compelling story has touched diverse, global audiences within colleges and universities, high schools, corporations, clergy, military, clinicians, health and medical communities, law enforcement organizations, and various industries. Thousands have communicated to Hines that his story helped save their lives. He has reached millions with his story.

*To take advantage of APPA's room block you must be registered for the training institute.

Block A ($237/night plus taxes and fees) is for government employees (including probation and parole officers) ONLY.
Block B ($327/night plus taxes and fees) is for Non-government employees. Periodic reviews of room Block A will be conducted.
*If a non-government attendee has a reservation in Block A, that reservation will be cancelled WITHOUT NOTICE.

When you register for your exhibitor booth, you will receive the passkey for your hotel reservation. Corporate members reserving one booth are limited to two training institute registrations and three expo-only registrations, allowing for a total of five hotel rooms. For those reserving two booths, the benefits double: four training institute registrations, six expo-only registrations, and a total of ten hotel rooms. If additional rooms are needed, reservations must be made directly through the Planet Hollywood Las Vegas Resort and Casino's website.

Getting an MTA MetroCard is your first step to navigating the City by subway or bus. You can purchase a MetroCard at any subway station from multilingual machines (which accept cash and credit and debit cards) or booth attendants. You may also use exact change (no dollar bills) to ride any city bus.

The City’s fleet of taxicabs is regulated by the NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC). Taxicabs operate 24 hours, provide door-to-door service and accept cash or credit cards. The City’s famous yellow fleet is primarily seen throughout Midtown but can be hailed for trips to other boroughs and states. NYC’s apple-green Boro Taxis can pick up passengers in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens (excluding the airports) and Staten Island, plus northern Manhattan (north of West 110th Street and East 96th Street); they are not authorized to pick up any trips elsewhere in Manhattan.

Cancellation Policy

  • In-Person:  A full refund, less a $50 processing fee, is available until Jul 18, 2025. No refunds are available after Jul 18, 2025. In order to receive a refund, written requests must be sent to the APPA Training Institute, c/o The Council of State Governments, 1776 Avenue of the States, Lexington, KY 40511 or emailed to Kimberly Mills. All requests for refunds must be postmarked or emailed by Jul 18, 2025.
  • Virtual: Due to the cost of the virtual training institute platform, no refunds will be issued.
  • Exhibitors: For booths cancelled in writing by Jun 24, 2025, 50% of the full payment may be refunded. After Jun 24, 2025, no refunds will be made, nor will previously paid monies be applied to any future APPA exhibit shows or other marketing areas. Additionally, these monies cannot be applied to offset another exhibitor’s booth rental fee. If you need to submit a cancellation, please email written cancellation request to: Darlene Webb.
