The American Probation and Parole Association (APPA) celebrates its 50th Anniversary, marking five decades of leadership and innovation in community supervision. Since it’s funding in 1975, APPA has been a driving force in advancing the field, providing essential training, resources, and advocacy for professionals dedicated to improving public safety and supporting rehabilitation. The 50th Anniversary is not just a milestone for the association, but a tribute to the thousands of people who have committed their careers to making a positive impact in communities across the nation.
Over the past five decades, APPA has grown into a leading national association dedicated to community supervision, probation, and parole. The anniversary is a momentous occasion to honor the progress and achievements of the association, as well as the professionals who have shaped the field. APPA serves as the field’s largest professional membership association, with over 2,000 members including individual, lifetime, agency, corporate, educational, student and library membership. Since APPA’s inception in 1975, APPA has championed evidence-based practices, advocated for effective policy reforms, and provided invaluable training to thousands of community supervision professionals.
