The American Probation and Parole Association (APPA) produces a quarterly periodical entitled Perspectives. There will be four issues published each year, usually one issue per quarter. Each issue of Perspectives generally includes a combination of feature articles that relate to a theme, special essays, departmental articles, committee updates, and a book review. Though APPA’s membership representation consists primarily of pretrial, probation, and parole departments in the United States, it also possesses a growing international presence.
APPA encourages submissions from authors that concern topics pertinent to its constituents. Each issue of Perspectives generally includes a combination of feature articles that relate to a theme, departmental articles, committee updates, and a book review. Manuscripts should be submitted to perspectives@csg.org.
For full consideration, manuscripts must be in English, submitted electronically in Microsoft Word format, no more than 3,000 words (excluding title, author bios, references, appendices, tables, images, charts, graphs, and diagrams), single-spaced, and use 12-point Times New Roman font. Tables, charts, graphs, and/or images should be provided at the end of the manuscript or as a separate attachment, clearly labeled, with placeholders within the text for where they would ideally be placed. Please include a title and authors’ names at the top of the first page of the article. Do not include an abstract. Authors should also provide 100-word biographies with their manuscripts. Manuscripts must conform to the American Psychological Association (APA) reference style (7th edition), especially for in-text citations and references. For further guidance on APA visit www.apastyle.org. Manuscripts that do not meet this standard will be returned to the author(s) for revision.
