Call for Nominations

APPA is accepting nominations until November 1, 2024 for APPA's prestigious awards to be presented at our 2025 Winter Training Institute in Las, Vegas, NV.

  2. Nominate someone whose work stands out to you.

Scotia Knouff Line Officer Award

Our most prestigious practitioner award is the Scotia Knouff Line Officer of the Year Award and it is also our most competitive.

Recipient
A community corrections officer active in the field

Awarded for
Performing assigned duties in an outstanding manner and/or making significant contributions to the profession at the local, regional, or national level

APPA President’s Award

Leading community corrections into the next decade requires exemplary management of innovative programs and projects. The APPA President’s Award honors the most visionary among them.

Recipient
Community corrections program or project

Awarded for
Advancing knowledge, effectiveness, and integrity of the criminal justice system

Walter Dunbar Memorial Award

The distinguished Walter Dunbar Memorial Award – our oldest award for practitioners – is presented in his honor.

Recipient
Active professional or retired practitioner in the field of probation or parole

Awarded for
Significant contribution to APPA from a position of national presence and influence

APPA Member of the Year Award

The voice of APPA is only as strong as our members. The APPA Member of the Year Award honors the year’s greatest individual contribution to our organization.

Awarded for
Significant contributions to APPA through promotion of our vision and mission

Joe Kegans Award

The late Judge Joe Kegans, a founding member of APPA’s Victim Issues Committee, devoted her career as a jurist to bettering the lives of those impacted by crime.

Recipient
A community corrections officer, living or deceased

Awarded for
Providing exemplary services to victims of crime; preference given to community corrections professionals and volunteers who have personally experienced criminal victimization and have used that experience to help others
